Peak oil and gas
Peak Oil Review – 29 July 2019 The US oil and gas rig count fell by eight this week, according to Baker Hughes, adding to months of losses, as US oil production falls to its lowest level since October 2018. Peak Exploration & Production is a private equity funded oil and gas company focused on exploring and developing highly economic projects across the western United States. Since 2002, Peak has had highly successful projects in Texas, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Wyoming. More recently, the term "peak oil" was popularized by Colin Campbell and Kjell Aleklett in 2002 when they helped form the Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas (ASPO). In his publications, Hubbert used the term "peak production rate" and "peak in the rate of discoveries". The national average price for gas, meanwhile, is expected to peak at $2.46 per gallon during the summer and post a full-year average of $2.39 per gallon. If government estimates are accurate, the average U.S. household would be spending about $200 more on gasoline than last year.
Highlights Forecast of world fossil fuel production. A variant of multi-cyclic Hubbert approach is proposed. Peak productions of oil, natural gas, and coal are calculated. Estimated peak years: 2009–2021 for oil, 2024–2046 for gas, 2042–2062 for coal. Comparison with other approaches and with literature estimates.
